Passion Fest, a free community festival in Pottstown, will take place on July 19, 2008 on the grounds of Pottstown High School for the third consecutive year. Seven thousand people attended the inaugural event in 2006. Between 10,000 attendees and 14,000 attendees came to Passion Fest in 2007 and over 15,000 people are expected in 2008.
Four bands are booked for Passion Fest this year: Between the Two; House of Heroes; Falling Up and, back by popular demand, Project 86 will perform on the main stage. The huge skate ramp stage will host action sports demos with Vic Murphy's Stunt Dudes (BMX) and Untitled Skate Team.
With nearly 1,000 kids enjoying the fun in 2007, Kids Zone is a much-anticipated part of Passion Fest. This year will include a moon bounce, free giveaways and prizes, dozens of fun games, kid tattooing and much more-all at no cost.
The Sports Zone allows older kids, teens and adults to test their athletic ability. Games include sumo wrestling, tug-a-joust, easy striker, quarterback toss, tug of war rope and so on-also at no cost. Still pending is pickup volleyball and a hot shots basketball all-day tournament.
Showcasing the great service organizations that make the local community a wonderful place to live and work is the Community Care Area. Registered for 2008 are numerous organizations including Stephen's Children, Pottstown Public Library, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, Thunder Outreach, The Woman's Center of Montgomery County, Push the Rock, Birthright of Pottstown, Habitat for Humanity, Crisis Point, Cluster Outreach, Child Evangelism Fellowship of Montgomery County, and The Biker Church. Organizations not currently registered are welcomed to register on www.passionfest.org under the "Community" tab.
Passion Fest is put on by the generous support of businesses, organizations and individuals who care about the people of the community. Special thanks goes out to Alderfer Meats Inc., THP, The H&K Group, and The Huston Foundation among dozens of other contributors. In addition, hundreds of volunteers make Passion Fest a reality each year. To donate to or volunteer for Passion Fest go to www.passionfest.org.
